Examen civique: the 364 official questions
The official question bank holds 364 questions in total: 207 for the carte de résident (CR) track, 190 for the carte de séjour pluriannuelle (CSP) track, with 33 shared between the two.
On exam day you answer 40 of these questions in 45 minutes, and 32 correct answers are needed to pass.
What's in the question bank
The questions cover five themes: principles and values of the Republic, institutions and political system, rights and duties, history-geography-culture, and living in French society. Everything is multiple choice.
364 sounds like a lot. But the themes repeat, and most questions become easy with a bit of practice. This isn't about memorising 364 lines, it's about understanding the questions.
How the selection works
Your exam is drawn from the bank matching your track (CR or CSP). You don't know in advance which 40 questions you'll get, so practise the whole bank, not a shortlist.
With Passexamen, every mock exam is freshly composed and weighted toward the themes where you make mistakes. You spend your time on what you haven't mastered yet, not on what you already know.
All 364 questions, each one explained
Passexamen covers the full official bank, both CR and CSP — the same bank naturalisation (NAT) preparation draws on. Every question is explained: the correct answer, why it's correct, and what to remember, all grounded in the ministry's official publications.
